Tomorrow, the 24th May 2014, is World Fish Migration Day.
MulkearLIFE / Inland Fisheries Ireland are hosting two events on the Mulkear River at Annacotty weir and both events are proceeding as planned.
The first event is at 6am. Sea lamprey have entered the Mulkear River this week, with the first sighting of a redd reported yesterday 22 (May 2014) and while water levels are higher than we would like, the 6am event is going ahead as planned and will focus on sea lamprey passage over Annacotty Weir. The meeting point is the car park area of the Mill Bar in Annacotty village. Please bring warm clothing and wellington boots and ideally bring waders.
The second event is at 12 midday and will also take place at Annacotty Weir (Mill Bar Car Park, in Annacotty Village. This event is a family fun event for World Fish Migration Day where you find out why the free movement of fish is so important on the Mulkear River. It will hopefully include a live fish demonstration of Atlantic Salmon, Sea Lamprey and others fish species. Please join us to have fun with face painting, fish coloring competition and a fish quiz with lots of great free prizes.
Both events are free and all are welcome. Please Join Us.
