A public awareness campaign will give the community a heightened sense of “environmental ownership” and recognition of the importance of the river catchment as an important natural resource. In particular it will promote sensible behaviour towards the river and the species in the river.
The MulkearLIFE project will highlight the significance of Atlantic salmon, sea lamprey, European otter and conservation issues surround them in the SAC. Education regarding the importance of the environment and natural heritage of the Mulkear catchment and what people can do to ensure their conservation, together with training in aquatic and riparian environmental monitoring and species recording in the target area will be provided to a range of target groups.
