The next outing of the Mulkear Conservation Volunteers will take place on Saturday, 23 July 2011 at 10.00am. The meeting point will be Annacotty (the car park area next to the Mill Bar).

The outing will focus on riparian management at several High Nature Value (HNV) sites along the Mulkear and / or Bilboa Rivers and site management for Himalayan Balsam. The fieldwork will include the manual removal of Himalayan Balsam on the sites selected. The conservation outing will also include a discussion on habitat creation, the success of sea lamprey passage, the role of the Mulkear Conservation Volunteers in Heritage Week events (August 20 to 28 2011) and upcoming leadership training for conservation volunteers which is planned for September 2011.

For those who wish to avail of transport from Limerick – please note a lift will be available for a small number of people from the Dock Road, Inland Fisheries Ireland office, to Annacotty – if you wish to avail of this lift please get in touch with us as soon as possible.
Please bring the following:
1. Appropriate clothing & foot ware (robust walking boots / wellington boots) & rain gear (jacket & trousers)
2. Water (if required) & and a flask of tea or coffee & snack (if required for field work)
