MulkearLIFE is delighted to again have the opportunity to attend this year’s Cappamore Agricultural Show. The Show will take place on Saturday, 18 August 2012 when the Show Committee will host its 58th Annual Show. It will be a very busy day for MulkearLIFE between the Cappamore Show and its own field trip entitled ‘The Magical Mulkear: A Field Trip Of Discovery’, which also takes place on the 18 August as part of Heritage Week 2012.

The Cappamore Agricultural Show is one of Ireland’s leading One Day Shows and is highly regarded throughout Ireland. The event incorporates both displays and competitions in areas such as cookery, crafts, agricultural and horticultural produce and other areas that draw on the traditional skills, arts and crafts, as well as more traditional show sections such as livestock, horse showing and jumping classes.

The Show has become an extremely important part of the social and cultural fabric of East Limerick and West Tipperary. It is one of the biggest local events in the Mulkear catchment. MulkearLIFE is therefore extremely pleased to be in a position to have a stand at the show. Last year’s event attracted in excess of 10,000 people and the project was thrilled to be able to greet hundreds of patrons at the MulkearLIFE stand.

Last years event also proved an excellent opportunity for MulkearLIFE to network with project partners and supporters in the Irish Farmers Association, local development bodies and the parents and students of local schools who have been, or who wish to be, part of the project’s Environmental Education Programme. The project greeted hundreds of visitors and was delighted to be able to give out free gifts to the many children who correctly identified wildlife images or who answered questions on the rich biodiversity of the Mulkear.
This year, MulkearLIFE will be highlighting its work in the local community and more especially its work with the local farmers. Free advice will be available to farmers with river frontage at the MulkearLIFE stand and the project will provide an update on the work of the project to date. Details of the project’s environmental education work in local schools and within the wider community will be provided including details of the upcoming events as part of Heritage Week 2012.
If you are at the Cappamore Agricultural Show please drop by and say hello.
