MulkearLIFE and members of the Mulkear Conservation Volunteers (MCV) will participate in BioBlitz 2011 which is taking part this weekend (from 17.00hrs on Friday 20th to 17.00hrs on Saturday 21st May) at various locations throughout Ireland.
We are planning to be part of BioBlizt 2011 with our near neighbours in Co. Clare, in Dromore Woods Nature Reserve. The Nature Reserve is approximately 400 hectares. It is owned by the state and it acquired recognition as a nature reserve in 1985 because of it’s richness in flora and fauna. It has many different habitats which include a river, lakes, callows, turloughs, limestone pavement, reed beds, fen peat, and species rich woodlands. The reserve also has historical and archaeological assets.
The MulkearLIFE team and members of the Mulkear Conservation Volunteers (MCV), in working alongside colleagues in Inland Fisheries Ireland, other bodies and volunteers, will focus our efforts on the recording skills of MCV members – which are many and varied. We will in particular focus on fresh water invertrabtes, mammals and bird species.
MulkearLIFE will provide all materials (recording sheets, id sheets, and nets / trays for freshwater invertebrates).
MulkearLIFE will organise free transport from the offices of MulkearLIFE, Inland Fisheries Ireland (front car park area), Ashbourne Business Park, Dock Rd, Limerick to Dromore Woods, Co. Clare at 9.30am returning from Dromore Woods at 13.00hrs (approx).
Please respond ASAP if you would like to be part of this great day out as part of the MCV and please let us know if you wish to avail of transport from Limerick.
