Large Crowds Attend Cappamore Show

Despite some heavy rain showers, the Cappamore Agriculture Show, held on Saturday last (17th August 2013), once again drew massive crowds. MulkearLIFE was delighted to have a stand again this year, which very appropriately was positioned between the Irish Farmers Association and Farm Relief Services. The fine weather resulted in a large number of exhibitors, which included all breeds of cattle, horse breeds, show jumping, and horse and carriage displays. The varied displays, fun and games ensured a great day was had by all.

MulkearLIFE was delighted to have the opportunity once again this year, to welcome many local farmers to its stand and offer advice on general riparian management to farmers with river frontage. The project also outlined the work presently underway within the local farming community on various rivers throughout the Mulkear catchment. Several farmers who are undertaking such work also attended the MulkearLIFE stand. There was a considerable level of interest in this work.

The Project Team also greeted hundreds of local visitors and was delighted to be able to give out free gifts to the many young children who answered questions on wildlife images and on the rich biodiversity of the Mulkear. The Cappamore Show, as in previous years, proved an excellent opportunity to network with project partners and supporters and the parents and students of local schools who have been part of the project’s Environmental Education Programme.

This is MulkearLIFE’s fourth consecutive year at the Cappamore Agriculture Show and the project would once again like to sincerely thank the Show Committee and all involved in making the show such a great success this year.
