MulkearLIFE was delighted to be in a position to attend an important social and networking event on the edge of the Mulkear Catchment over the weekend. The event was the launch by Cappawhite native Mr. Jimmy Barry of his beautiful book ‘Under Galtee Skies’.

The event which was attended by a massive crowd from throughout the Mulkear catchment and beyond gave MulkearLIFE an opportunity to network with project co-financers (South Tipperary County Council), project supporters and friends. This included conservation volunteers, local farmers and landowners and teachers from schools where MulkearLIFE’s Environmental Education programme has operated over the past number of years. It was a night of great celebration for all concerned but most especially for Mr. Jimmy Barry.

The book and the many images contained within it, which were all taken by Mr. Barry, deal with a range of issues but high amongst them is the need to protect and conserve the natural environment that surrounds us. The resource base that we all so greatly enjoy, the great free ‘green gym’, also needs our protection and support if it is to be used on a sustainable basis and enjoyed today and by future generations.
As a man from the Mulkear Catchment, with a deep passion for our natural environment, and a man who has ‘giving back so much’ to others in a voluntary capacity throughout his life, MulkearLIFE congratulates Jimmy Barry on the launch of his wonderful book, ‘Under Galtee Skies’.
